Pulling off the perfect heist is hard, but the Ocean movies make it look cool. The movies have become known for their storytelling, clever plots, and powerhouse casts. And each film raises the stakes, pushing both the actors and their characters to their limits. 

The same can be said for Bradley Cooper, who is now eyeing to star in the upcoming Ocean prequel alongside Margot Robbie. However, as per early whispers, the actor could be multitasking as a crucial member exits the project.

The upcoming Ocean’s prequel, potentially starring Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie, was originally set to be directed by 2x Oscar-nominated director Lee Isaac Chung. However, he recently exited the film due to creative differences, which Warner Bros. called an “amicable split.” With the director’s chair now empty, journalist and podcaster Matt Belloni has reported that Cooper may step in to write and direct the film while also starring in it. 

The project, which is expected to be set in 1960s Europe, has already seen several changes behind the scenes. Jay Roach was first reported to be attached to the film before Chung joined the project, as per Variety. Now, with another shift in leadership, it remains unclear whether Cooper will take on the additional responsibilities. Cooper previously made his directorial debut with A Star Is Born, followed by Maestro. However, when it comes to the Ocean’s prequel, there has been no official update yet.

In an interview with Variety in December 2025, George Clooney revealed that the same cast could reunite for another movie in the heist franchise, Ocean's 14. 

Clooney said he finds the idea amusing and interesting, as the characters would return for another heist, and this time as older members working around their limitations. He also shared that the budget has been approved by Warner Bros., and the project may soon move into development. If everything falls into place, fans might soon see the beloved crew reunite, as well as Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie’s Ocean prequel, too.
