Brad Pitt embraces a new identity after hilariously getting mistaken for The Odyssey actor Matt Damon. The actor has starred in hit films like Se7en and Fight Club and is certainly one of the most recognizable faces in the world. So, it is not surprising that fans are quick to recognize him even in a crowd.

However, that has not saved him from being misidentified by an innocent movie fan. The actor recently recalled an incident in which he was mistaken for none other than Matt Damon. And he did not seem to mind being mistaken for the Good Will Hunting actor.

Brad Pitt recently appeared at a screening event for Heart of the Beast, where he shared a hilarious incident involving a Postmate while chatting with fans. He recalled that the fan was quick to recognize him as an actor when he stepped outside to receive his food. However, things took an unexpected turn when the fan asked for his name, and Pitt jokingly told him that he was Matt Damon, and the Postmate hilariously believed him.

“I started grabbing my food, and he goes, ‘Tell me your name again.’ And I go, Matt Damon. And he is like, ‘I knew it, dude. I knew it.’ Yeah, I go, ' Yeah, tell your friends,'" the actor recalled.

Now, the story that Pitt recalled during the screening event is not surprising, considering the Good Will Hunting actor was most recently mistaken for Brad Pitt. Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, were present at the final game of the 2026 World Cup to enjoy the match. FOX Sports announcer John Strong, who was tasked with spotting familiar faces in the crowd, spotted Damon and mistakenly identified him as Brad Pitt.

“Brad Pitt among the fans here,” Strong was heard saying.

While FOX Sports announcer Stu Holden was quick to correct his colleague, fans had quite some fun on social media taking a dig at the mistake. Incidents like these are quite common, with celebrities often getting mistaken for other famous faces. Rupert Grint has often mentioned that he gets mistaken for Ed Sheeran.

As for Pitt, he is not the only celebrity to have been mistaken for Matt Damon.

Mark Wahlberg accepted new identity as Matt Damon

Much like Once Upon A Time in Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, Mark Wahlberg also had a hilarious experience where he was mistaken for Matt Damon. Back in 2015, a fan misidentified Wahlberg as Damon and even took pictures with him. However, Wahlberg decided not to correct her.

She later discovered the hilarious mistake after sharing the moment on Facebook. Wahlberg also commented on the post by saying, “Close enough.” While such incidents can be quite embarrassing or perhaps awkward, it seems both Wahlberg and Brad Pitt decided to have some fun with the hilarious mix-up.
