Bong Joon Ho’s First Animated Feature Will Feature a Piglet Squid and an All-Star Cast

Academy Award-winning director Bong Joon Ho seems ready to explore a completely new turf with his upcoming animated film, Ally. And for the film’s voice cast, the filmmaker has brought together a notable line-up of talents that includes Alex Jayne Go, Ayo Edebiri, and several other big names. Along with its star-studded lineup, the film will also introduce audiences to an adorable marine creature and its dreams.

So, here is a look at the voice cast ahead of the movie’s release.

Alex Jayne Go: She is an actress, model, and voiceover artist who has previously worked in Searching, starring John Cho and Debra Messing.  

Ayo Edebiri: Known for Clarissa, Edebiri is an actress and comedian. She was previously the writer and voice actor in the Netflix animated adult comedy series Big Mouth, which ran for nearly 5 years.

Bradley Cooper: Actor Bradley Cooper is a household name in the film industry. He is also a director and has previously worked on Maestro and A Star Is Born.

Dave Bautista: He is an actor and former professional wrestler, and has worked in several films. Many might remember him from Dune: Part Two and The Killer’s Game.

Finn Wolfhard: The Stranger Things actor will join the voice cast to lend his voice to one of the characters. Along with his acting career, Wolfhard is also a director.

Rachel House: House is yet another well-known name in the industry. She was the voice of Gramma Tala in the 2016 Disney animated film Moana. She has also worked on Thor: Ragnarok and Bellbird. 

Werner Herzog: Werner Herzog is a German filmmaker and actor. He is known for his work in Aguirre, the Wrath of God, as well as Nosferatu the Vampyre.

With a brilliant cast, the movie will follow a curious piglet squid named Ally who lives deep in the South Pacific Ocean and dreams of seeing the sun while becoming the star of a wildlife documentary. However, things take a turn when a mysterious aircraft crashes into the ocean. From friendship to several adventures, the movie will explore the connection between humans and marine creatures.

While Bong Joon Ho's animated spectacle is yet to touch the screens, there is another recent film exploring friendship and unusual wildlife, which is available to watch on Netflix.

What is Swapped on Netflix?

Swapped is another animated feature that explores friendship and survival through the story of two very different creatures, a tiny woodland animal named Ollie and a bird named Ivy. Though the two begin as sworn enemies, a strange body-switch accident forces them to work together as their lives are turned upside down in the wild.

The film has adventure, humor, and emotional moments while focusing on survival in nature. Its voice cast also brings major star power, with Michael B. Jordan voicing Ollie and Juno Temple playing Ivy, alongside Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, and Justina Machado. Until Ally arrives, Swapped could be a fun watch.
