Many know Billy Bob Thornton as Karl Childers in Sling Blade or as Tommy Norris in Landman. But behind the camera, he is a proud father and husband. Thornton has experienced love multiple times and has been married five times before settling down with the love of his life, Connie Angland, whom he married in 2014. Although he speaks fondly about his children when he gets the chance, the actor prefers to keep his family away from the spotlight and media scrutiny.

Billy Bob Thornton shares his first child, Amanda, with Melissa Lee Gatlin. He has openly acknowledged that he was not present during her early years. However, later in life, the two were able to reconnect and build a relationship.

Later in 2009, she was indicted on multiple charges, including aggravated child abuse. Thornton's publicist told CNN that the two had not been in touch for quite a few years. Amanda was released in 2020, with support from the Innocence Project of Florida.

In 1993, the actor found love again and married Pietra Dawn Cherniak (his former fourth wife). The couple welcomed two sons, William Langston Thornton (June 27, 1993) and Harry James Thornton (June 19, 1994). While his eldest son William largely stays out of the spotlight, he has occasionally accompanied his father to film premieres.

He joined Thornton and his stepmother, Connie Angland, for the premiere of Bad Santa 2. Harry, on the other hand, has been more closely involved in the entertainment industry. He had worked as an assistant prop master on his father’s series Goliath. 

He also worked as a set dresser on The Good Place in 2018. Later, in 2022, he appeared on the E! Reality show, Relatively Famous: Ranch Rules, where he opened up about his upbringing, including being homeschooled. He also spoke about Angelina Jolie, who was a wonderful stepmother to them.

“She was just so fun for us back when we were younger," he told Entertainment Tonight. 

The actor met Jolie (fifth wife) during the filming of Pushing Tin and got married in 2000. But the marriage was short-lived, with the pair separating in 2003. Despite the divorce, Jolie appeared to remain on good terms with the family, as Harry once shared.

“To this day, she still sends me Christmas gifts every year ... I don't talk to her on the phone every day, but every now and then we talk," he said. 

Apart from working in the entertainment world, Harry also works in luxury real estate. After a stint with the Aaron Kirman Group, he went on to start his own firm, Thornton Group. Turning to his personal, Harry announced his engagement to his fiancée, Magi Monet, in 2019.

The couple shares two daughters. He had Mia in 2013, and the couple welcomed their second daughter, Nikita, in 2018. Much like his father, he knows how to balance his professional and personal life. 

Days after his divorce from Angelina Jolie, Billy Bob Thornton began dating special effects artist Connie Angland. And several years after welcoming their daughter Bella in 2004, the two quietly tied the knot in 2014. They are often spotted together at several premieres and events. 

He often speaks fondly of his youngest daughter, Bella, who wanted to be an entomologist. Much like her older siblings, she stays out of the public eye, though she has joined her parents at a few events over the years. As of now, she is a sophomore at Cal Poly University.

And her father could not be prouder of his daughter. The Landman actor is often seen wearing Cal Poly shirts and hats. Even during a recent appearance on the Today show, he shared how much he enjoys talking about his daughter. And he is willing to do it even in the most unexpected places.

“I say it everywhere I go. I mean, I’ll tell somebody, you know, unsolicited… some lady looking through the gem store for crystals or something, I’ll go, ‘Yeah, my daughter goes to Cal Poly, you live around here?’” he said.

While the family stays close to the campus, Thornton has also shared that the surroundings have influenced his creativity. So, even amid a hectic schedule with filming and events, he makes sure to spend time with his children and be present for them. Not just a brilliant actor, he is also a devoted father who values his family.
