Beyond Miles Morales Trilogy: Are the Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk Movies Still Happening in Spider-Verse?
Miles Morales is finally swinging toward the last chapter of the Spider-Verse saga. After the blockbuster releases of the first two films, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is currently slated for a 2027 release, bringing the beloved trilogy to a close. While this is the end of Miles’ journey, the franchise itself is far from over.
Two ambitious spin-offs focused on Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk have been in the conversation for quite some time. Now, finally, there seems to be an update on whether these projects are finally moving forward or still stuck in development limbo.

The writers and producers behind the Spider-Verse films, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, recently spoke with Josh Horowitz while talking about Project Hail Mary. During the conversation, they were asked about updates on the much-discussed Spider-Verse spin-offs, which are likely on Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk. In response, both hinted that there is a strong interest in expanding the animated universe.
“There's a lot of interest. And there's very talented people that will be a part of it,” they said.
This hints that the project might have had some developments in the last few months. However, nothing is confirmed until an official update. Contributing more to the speculation, Get Out actor Daniel Kaluuya, who voices Spider-Punk, shared with Deadline in December 2025 that the script for his spin-off is close to completion.
Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Animation presidents Kristine Belson and Damien de Froberville have also addressed similar questions. While they did not confirm the specifics, Belson admitted that both projects are actively in development. This should reassure fans that the Spider-Verse may continue to expand even after Miles Morales’ journey concludes.
And while animated spin-offs dominate the conversation, there are also growing rumors about a potential live-action adaptation in the works.
Is a live-action adaptation possible for Miles Morales
The conversation has certainly heated up following the massive success of the Spider-Verse films. However, there is still little confirmed information about a potential live-action adaptation. In an earlier interview with Variety, producer Amy Pascal confirmed that discussions around a live-action version have begun.
“It’s all happening,” Pascal said.

Fans, meanwhile, have taken to social media with excitement, even fan-casting actors they believe would fit these roles perfectly. However, with no official announcements yet, fans continue to dissect every hint about what might come next. Fortunately, the same uncertainty might not be involved in the animated spin-offs, such as the Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk projects.
