Ben Stiller has officially confirmed his long-rumored New York Knicks documentary, teaming with HBO and A24 to capture the franchise's championship season. The actor and filmmaker had been dropping hints all postseason, leaving fans guessing about what exactly was in the works. Speculation ranged from a behind-the-scenes special to a glossy advertisement, never quite landing on the full picture. Stiller finally pulled back the curtain himself, and the timing felt perfect.

While supporters spent the postseason guessing at hidden cameras and secret meetings, Stiller was already locking down deals that would turn courtside clips into a full-blown documentary.

Ben Stiller made it official on the Roommates Show podcast, confirming the long-teased project finally has a home. The actor revealed HBO and A24 are both attached, with full cooperation from MSG and the NBA backing the production, after he spent the entire playoff run recording games on his iPhone from courtside.

"I'm really excited to announce that we are officially making a documentary about the New York Knicks for HBO and doing it with A24, with full cooperation of MSG and the NBA," Stiller said on the podcast.

He credited James Dolan for the greenlight, adding, "It was great that Mr. Dolan decided he wanted to do it finally and give us the access."

Speaking further on the Roommates Show, Stiller explained the documentary will not be limited to the recent title run alone. He described plans to cover multiple eras of Knicks history, weaving the 1973 championship and the gritty 1990s teams into the same narrative as the current roster. The format remains in flux, with Stiller suggesting the project could stretch across several parts rather than one single feature. A working title has not been chosen yet, though filming will continue throughout the upcoming season.

Ben Stiller is no stranger to documentary work, having directed Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost for Apple TV about his own parents. He also produced Born to Bowl, an HBO project centered on competitive bowling. For the Knicks project, Stiller has reportedly been filming in Apple Log format, a flat, grey-toned style that preserves detail across shadows and highlights for later color grading.

Stiller has also been color-grading clips himself, including a striking black-and-white sequence from the Game 4 celebration that resembled classic documentary cinema. His courtside seat has given the project a viewpoint few sports productions capture, blending raw fan energy with cinematic style. With HBO and A24 now confirmed, the Knicks finally have the championship documentary fans have wanted for decades.
