As an actor, Ben Affleck has often played characters who find themselves in dangerous situations. As Batman, Affleck battled criminals in Gotham City. However, the actor also had a frightening encounter in real life when he almost got robbed on his way back home.

At the time, the actor was not a household name in the industry yet. Looking back on the terrifying experience, Affleck recalled some shocking and chilling details.

Ben Affleck recently appeared on Kerry Washington’s podcast, Street You Grew Up On. When asked if he had ever been robbed, the actor recalled one of the most harrowing incidents from his childhood. He said that while he was walking home from school, two boys from across the street crossed over and stopped him. As Affleck recalled, the two boys grabbed him and showed a knife, demanding that he hand over his money.

“I was scared,” Affleck said. “But then out of the corner of my eye, I realized who they were. I recognized them from playing baseball and they were like older boys that I knew and they were like, ‘Oh yeah, what’s up?’ And so I guess I was like, I guess I’m off the hook.”

While speaking about the incident on Street You Grew Up On, the actor recalled feeling lucky to have escaped the horrifying incident safely that day. Affleck said he must have been around 15 years old at the time. However, what he revealed next made the story even more chilling, as he shared that one of the boys who had stopped him went on to do something unimaginable in the future.

“That kid who robbed me ended up three or four years later k****** somebody with a knife and going to prison for 20 years,” he said.

At the time, Affleck had also begun dipping his toes into the acting industry. He revealed that he kept the incident from his mother for quite some time before finally opening up about it. Affleck admitted that he was often unwilling to tell his mother whenever something bad happened to him.
