Manifestation may be a relatively new concept, but Ryan Reynolds has been on it since 2016. With every joke he made, albeit as the Merc with a Mouth, he inched closer to being a part of the Marvel family. The Deadpool actor managed to make his superhero dreams come true through sheer dedication and a plethora of jokes. However, there is another actor with the same dream as him who could not find a place even in the Deadpool universe.
While the ‘group of misfits’ is a title mostly synonymous with James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Reynolds’ Deadpool with its dynamic mutants is a close second. But all these superhero movies could not make a place for an actor who is actually considered one in real life.

The 2016 release, Deadpool, after facing several delays, went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie. And for obvious reasons, when a sequel was announced, many stars shared their audition tapes. One among them was that of wrestler turned actor, John Cena. Cena said in a 2022 interview with The Happy Sad Confused podcast, “There was a brief try at the Deadpool universe, rejection,” while discussing the rejections he has faced at superhero studios.

John Cena auditioned for the role of Cable. The role ultimately went on to Josh Brolin, who put up a spectacular performance. But there is also no denying that Cena with years of wrestling experience would have made an apt Cable.
The F9 actor did not reveal the reason why he was rejected. But whatever it was does not seem to have affected his relationship with Ryan Reynolds.
Are Ryan Reynolds and John Cena friends?
Ryan Reynolds starred in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw whereas John Cena starred in F9. And barring a few odds, the Fast & Furious actors get along like icing on the cake. However, Reynolds and Cena are not just connected by the acting spectacle, as they seem to enjoy the same gin.
