Barry Keoghan to Return as Joker in ‘The Batman: Part II,’ With Sebastian Stan Eyed for an Undisclosed Role

Variety has officially confirmed that Barry Keoghan is set to reprise his role as the Joker in The Batman: Part II, while Sebastian Stan is in talks to join the sequel in a currently undisclosed role. The Matt Reeves-directed follow-up will once again star Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight and is expected to begin production this spring ahead of its October 2027 theatrical release.
Barry Keoghan was introduced in the Batman-verse at the end of The Batman, when Paul Dano’s Riddler was sent to Arkham Asylum. There, Pattinson's Dark Knight shared a brief moment with an unseen inmate. The character was revealed as the Joker in a deleted scene later.
Sebastian Stan, meanwhile, is a comic-book genre veteran, best known for playing Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, across multiple Marvel projects over the years. The list of talents attached to the much-anticipated DC offering, according to Variety, meanwhile, does not stop here.
The Batman: Part II is assembling a star-studded ensemble of familiar heroes and fresh faces, intensifying excitement for the sequel.

Colin Farrell is back as Oz Cobb, following the success of The Penguin spinoff series, while Jeffrey Wright reprises his role as Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon, reports Variety. Andy Serkis will once again appear as Alfred Pennyworth. The sequel has also added Scarlett Johansson to its cast, while Noah Schnapp is rumored to have a role as well.
