New reports suggest that Avengers: Secret Wars filming is now set to begin in November, accounting for a six-month delay. As the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe barrels toward its highly anticipated multiverse-shattering climax, fans across the globe have spent years tracking every whisper of production news surrounding its grand finale. Promising an unprecedented gathering of heroes, villains, and legacy characters from across cinematic history, the studio's ultimate crossover event has carried immense weight and soaring expectations since its initial announcement. 

Now, after months of intense anticipation and quiet adjustments behind the scenes, the road to the multiverse has hit a fresh roadblock.

According to Daniel Richtman, filming on Avengers: Secret Wars will not start until November. The production, which was initially planned to begin somewhere around April 2026, has now faced several delays and date shifts. At first, it was postponed to August, then the window moved to October, and now it is reported that it will not start before November.

With production on Avengers: Doomsday running from April through September 2025 and wrap-up reshoots recently concluding ahead of this December's theatrical debut, tracking a comparable timeline for its follow-up suggests a lengthy road ahead. If Secret Wars replicates that production window and cameras do not start rolling until late September or early October, the blockbuster would not land in cinemas until well into 2028. 

Managing such an enormous undertaking appears to be a monumental challenge; however, despite previous reports, speculation remains that directors the Russo brothers may have quietly gotten a head start by developing the project and capturing select scenes ahead of time. Still, the recent production update by Daniel Richtman gives fans plenty to worry about.

However, there is still room to hope that the delays will not halt the production of Secret Wars much longer.

Fans were already skeptical about Marvel’s seemingly impossible back-to-back release of two massive MCU Phase finales, for which Kevin Feige and team have been building unprecedented anticipation for months. What worked for the studios for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame does not necessarily mean it can be replicated for the upcoming Avengers sequels. Both the previous installments came back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. But Doomsday and Secret Wars are whole different beasts with far more complexities attached to them, just on account of a far more expansive cast and narrative nuances.

But a counterargument can be made that the production of Secret Wars would not likely suffer much due to these delays, as filming for Doomsday might make things easier on the follow-up. In fact, the production on Secret Wars might just move at a quicker pace, as the Russo brothers, along with the cast and crew, will maintain their momentum fresh off the set of Doomsday. Furthermore, with many physical sets already constructed, the team can significantly cut down on pre-production time. Only time will tell now if this optimism amounts to anything.
