The beloved world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is expanding with Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, an animated film that continues the story of Aang and his friends years after the events of the original series. Set during their young adult years, the film follows Aang as he faces new challenges while protecting the fragile peace established after the Hundred Year War. Originally planned as a theatrical release before moving to a streaming debut on Paramount+, the film will now premiere globally on July 25.

As the first major project from Avatar Studios, the film brings together a talented voice cast to portray familiar heroes, new allies, and characters that continue to expand the rich mythology of the Four Nations.

Eric Nam will voice the titular hero Aang in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, bringing a new perspective to the beloved Avatar as the story jumps forward to follow Team Avatar in their mid-to-late 20s. With an older Aang comes a deeper emotional journey as he carries the burden of being the world’s last Air Nomad while trying to preserve his culture’s legacy.

The film explores Aang’s search for hope amid that loneliness, including a mysterious connection to an ancient power. A celebrated singer, songwriter, actor, and television personality, Eric Nam rose to global fame through his successful music career and work in Korean entertainment.

Known for his charisma, bilingual talents, and media presence, he has also built a reputation as a performer and storyteller. Voicing adult Aang marks one of his biggest acting roles yet.

Steven Yeun - Zuko

Known for his powerful performances in The Walking Dead, Minari, Invincible, and Beef, Steven Yeun has become one of the most acclaimed and versatile actors of his generation. He now steps into the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender as the voice of Fire Lord Zuko in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, taking over the role from original voice actor Dante Basco as an adult version of the character.

Unlike the conflicted exiled prince fans first met, this version of Zuko is a wise Fire Lord working alongside Aang to rebuild the world and maintain peace after the Hundred Year War. Interestingly, Yeun has already been part of the Avatar universe, previously voicing Avatar Wan in The Legend of Korra. With his ability to capture emotional depth and intensity, Yeun brings a new layer to Zuko’s ongoing journey of redemption and leadership.

Jessica Matten - Katara

An acclaimed actress, producer, and Indigenous advocate of Red River Métis-Cree heritage, Jessica Matten brings both authenticity and emotional depth to Katara in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. The casting reflects the filmmakers' commitment to aligning the characters' cultural inspirations with the backgrounds of the actors portraying them, making Matten a meaningful choice for the role. Set years after the original series, the film follows an adult Katara as a fully realized Waterbending master and one of Aang's closest allies.

As Aang confronts a crisis surrounding the future of the Air Nomad culture, Katara remains a steadfast source of wisdom, strength, and support. Best known for her performances in Dark Winds, Frontier, and Tribal, Matten has earned praise for portraying resilient, layered characters. Her extensive advocacy for Indigenous communities and dedication to authentic storytelling make her a fitting voice for one of the franchise's most compassionate and courageous heroes.

Román Zaragoza - Sokka

Román Zaragoza brings the same effortless blend of humor, heart, and quiet wisdom that made his portrayal of Sasappis in Ghosts a fan favorite to Sokka in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. His ability to balance dry, sarcastic humor with genuine emotional depth makes him an ideal choice to voice an older version of one of Team Avatar's most beloved members. Set years after the original series, the film reunites audiences with Sokka as a seasoned strategist, respected chief, and one of the key leaders who helped rebuild the world following the Hundred Year War.

While Aang grapples with preserving the future of the Air Nomads, Sokka remains a trusted friend whose quick thinking, tactical brilliance, and unwavering loyalty continue to anchor Team Avatar. Although older and more experienced, he hasn't lost the wit and playful charm that made him a standout throughout the original series. Zaragoza's Indigenous heritage also reflects the filmmakers' commitment to authentically representing the Water Tribe's real-world Indigenous inspirations, bringing added cultural significance to his casting.

Dionne Quan - Toph

A veteran of the animation industry, Dionne Quan steps into the role of Toph Beifong in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, bringing decades of voice acting experience to one of the franchise's most beloved characters. Having voiced memorable characters such as Kimi in Rugrats, Trixie Tang in The Fairly OddParents, and Yasmin in the Bratz animated films and television series, Quan has built a career defined by expressive, character-driven performances.

Set years after the original series, the film reunites audiences with an adult Toph, now a legendary Earthbending master whose invention of Metalbending has reshaped nations and transformed the art of bending itself. As Aang embarks on a dangerous quest to protect an ancient power tied to the future of the Air Nomads, Toph once again becomes an indispensable member of Team Avatar. Quan's sharp vocal delivery and emotional range make her well-suited to capture Toph's trademark confidence, dry humor, and unwavering courage, while adding the maturity of a warrior whose legacy has already changed the world.

Dave Bautista - Tagah

From scene-stealing performances in Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune, Blade Runner 2049, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Knock at the Cabin, Dave Bautista has established himself as one of Hollywood's most versatile actors, effortlessly shifting between blockbuster action, comedy, and emotionally layered drama. That commanding screen presence now carries over to Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, where he voices the film's formidable new antagonist, Tagah.

Unlike the villains Aang has faced before, Tagah is an ancient Air Nomad whose survival shatters the long-held belief that Aang is the last of his people. Scarred by the destruction of the Air Nomads, Tagah rejects their centuries-old pacifist ideals and seeks to build a powerful Air Empire through force. Determined to seize a legendary staff tied to an ancient power, he becomes Aang's greatest obstacle, believing only military strength can prevent history from repeating itself. Bautista's ability to portray intimidating yet emotionally complex characters makes him an ideal voice for this compelling new villain.

Dee Bradley Baker - Appa / Momo

A true Avatar franchise veteran, Dee Bradley Baker returns to Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender to reprise his iconic roles as Appa and Momo, making him one of the few original cast members to return for the animated film. While Team Avatar receives a new adult voice cast to reflect the story's time jump, the beloved flying bison and winged lemur retain the familiar sounds that have defined them since the original series, providing a comforting sense of continuity for longtime fans.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest voice actors in animation, Baker is renowned for bringing creatures to life using only his voice, with no digital enhancements. Beyond the Avatar universe, he has voiced every Clone Trooper in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Perry the Platypus in Phineas and Ferb, and countless creatures across film and television. His return ensures that Appa's unmistakable "yip-yip" and Momo's playful chirps continue to capture the warmth, humor, and heart that have always been central to Team Avatar's journey.

Alongside the returning and new heroes, the film features voices from Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Ke Huy Quan, Ken Jeong, Ronny Chieng, and Freida Pinto, adding even more star power to this highly anticipated adventure. With a talented voice cast bringing new depth to the next chapter of Aang’s journey, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender expands the beloved world of the Four Nations.
