Australian Actor Uli Latukefu Joins 'The Legend of Zelda' as Central Antagonist Ganondorf

The highly anticipated live-action movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda has been building momentum behind closed doors, keeping its production tightly wrapped under a blanket of secrecy. Ever since Nintendo officially announced the project in late 2023, fan speculation surrounding the cast has reached a fever pitch, with audiences who have waited decades for a cinematic treatment eagerly analyzing every development. 

While stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason have already been officially confirmed as the iconic duo Link and Princess Zelda, exciting new reporting has just surfaced regarding the massive actor set to step into the boots of the series' overarching central antagonist.

After staying offline for a few weeks, prominent insider Kyle Buchanan, The Projectionist at The New York Times, returned to X to drop a massive piece of casting news. 

“The LEGEND OF ZELDA movie is months away and they’ve still haven’t announced any actors besides the two leads!” he revealed, “So here’s a freebie: I’ve been hearing the iconic series villain Ganondorf is played by Australian actor Uli Latukefu, best known for the show “Young Rock”.

As the central antagonist, Ganondorf plays a critical, driving role in The Legend of Zelda. The overall plot centers on the kingdom of Hyrule, where the brave young hero Link and the wise Princess Zelda fight to protect their world and the sacred Triforce from falling into darkness.

Ganondorf serves as the ultimate threat to this peace, a ruthless conqueror whose relentless ambition constantly forces Link and Zelda to unite against his dark reign.

In the lore, Ganondorf is the mortal incarnation of evil and the wielder of the Triforce of Power. He commands dark sorcery, immense physical strength, and master swordsmanship, frequently transforming into the monstrous demon beast Ganon to bring Hyrule to its knees. He further proved his grit in the high-stakes action thriller Countdown as LAPD Detective Luke Finau, holding his ground alongside Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane in an intense, high-octane ensemble. 

Latukefu can bring that same imposing physicality, tactical intensity, and grounded gravity to Ganondorf, giving Hyrule's iconic villain the formidable presence he truly deserves on the big screen.
