The Boys is perhaps yet to introduce one of its most dangerous Supes, as the superhero thriller gears up for its fifth and final season. The upcoming chapter promises more violence and obliteration than ever before. While spin-offs will continue expanding the world, several crucial character arcs will come to an end, including Ashley Barrett’s.

However, this final season could be especially crucial for Ashley, who was last seen injecting herself with Compound V in Season 4. As fans speculate about her fate, Colby Minifie, who plays the character, recently opened up about Ashley’s potential superpowers.

The end of Season 4 of The Boys shows Ashley Barrett injecting herself with Compound V in an attempt to save her life as Homelander and The Seven begin killing several Vought employees. She undergoes a terrifying transformation, with her head swelling as she screams in pain. Now, speaking about Ashley’s powers, Colby Minifie did not reveal much, but clarified that her character does end up with the right powers.

“I can say that her power is perfect for her. I don't think they could have chosen anything better. I'm really grateful that she gets to have a superpower in the first place,” she said. “I got to explore some really fun physical stuff,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

This is a crucial moment in Ashley’s arc, as it could determine whether she sides with The Boys or remains aligned with the Supes. Over the past four seasons, she has consistently been shown as someone crushed under the power of Supes and horrified by their actions. While her moral stance has largely stayed in a gray area, it remains to be seen which path she ultimately chooses in the final season of The Boys.

While Minifie remained tight-lipped about her role in the new season, she had an amusing stance about her haircut from season 1.

Colby Minifie says her season 1 haircut resembled a scary villain

Fans who had worried that Colby Minifie’s character might undergo a frightening transformation after Season 4 were relieved to see that she appears unchanged in the Season 5 trailer. However, the actress herself had plenty to say about her look in earlier seasons. She joked that Ashley’s haircut made her resemble Lord Farquaad from the original Shrek.

"The poor thing started with hair," she told CBR's Sean O'Connell. "With a Lord Farquaad haircut nonetheless."

Although Ashley’s straight-cut bangs resembled Lord Farquaad’s hairstyle, there is a difference between their roles. While Lord Farquaad had immense power, the same cannot be said for Ashley, who has largely been used throughout the show. Now that the character may finally have power of her own, it remains to be seen what Ashley’s role will be in the series going forward.
