“As they should”- Fans Stand With Netflix and Kim Kardashian for Editing Out the Boos In Tom Brady Roast

Tom Brady recently found himself marinating in the heat of a three-hour and four-minute roast as part of the 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Festival. The OTT giant's first-ever crack at Live was a Chris Rock standup-comedy special last year. But one thing that has stayed consistent since that debut to the very recent The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady is the Kardashians serving as the fodder for the jokes. However, this time, things might have gone a bit too far.

Kim Kardashian was recently met with a barrage of boos as she stepped up to roast the American football quarterback. “Alright, alright, alright,” the reality TV star tried to brush off the negativity as the boos intensified. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart jumped in, shouting, “Whoa! Whoa!” in an attempt to quell the unrest. As a recent update, the version of the special on Netflix comes with a disclaimer stating it was “edited from a previous livestream," and the boos have been edited out of the show as well.

While some ridiculed the entrepreneur's robotic delivery of jokes, citing it as the cause of the boos, others were still sour over past grievances. Kim Kardashian already had a substantial anti-fanbase outside the NFL. But even within the NFL circle, there are many fans who bear a grudge against her for her association with former Heisman winner Reggie Bush, which fans believed overshadowed his football career. Furthermore, certain sections of the NFL community were irked by past rumors linking her romantically to Tom Brady.

Even though everyone was looking forward to it, the big Netflix roast of the year got messed up with some problems. While some people thought it was funny when Kim Kardashian got booed, others were dismayed by the misogynistic jokes directed at the SKIMS mogul. Fans were up in arms over the Tony Hinchcliffe joke that received a lot of backlash. And lots of people wondered why Netflix did not just take it out.

Many fans praised Netflix for taking the booing part out, but others thought maybe Kris Jenner, the momager, had a hand in it.

Of course, there were dissenting opinions too, with some arguing that it was infringing on free speech.

If one can brush aside these controversies, Netflix's live roast of the NFL legend has become the subject of chatter online and has birthed a major cultural moment. It has also hit 2 million views and claimed the No. 6 spot on Netflix's Top 10. But only time will tell where this public debate over Kim Kardashian's treatment on the show will lead.
