In most crime stories, the more interesting mess actually takes place before anyone touches the vault. The main elements are the compromises that make a plan possible, the people convinced they can control it, and the pursuit that follows when control slips.

A good heist needs precision, but it also needs something to go wrong. Checking that box, Zurich now provides a fitting setting for the collision awaiting in Apple TV's new 12 12 12, while a countdown leaves the opposing players very little room to recover as plans unravel.

The trailer turns a ticking clock into a contest between two men whose plans cannot both succeed, with Europe as their board.

Apple TV's 12 12 12 trailer has the clock ticking already

12 12 12 is an eight-episode heist drama about a Zurich vault raid. The trailer, revealed on October 13, introduces Anthony Mackie as a disgraced FBI agent and Jamie Dornan as an American career criminal, setting their pursuit loose across Europe. However, instead of confining the robbery to one night, the series tracks its preparation and consequences, and the trailer has set the tone in every possible manner.

The title lays out the structure: 12 months to plan, 12 hours to execute the job, and 12 days afterwards. The timeline moves between preparation, execution and investigation, while the trailer keeps turns under wraps. Mackie and Dornan’s chase supplies the tension; each stage changes the stakes.

But a high-stakes pursuit needs more than two adversaries; the series also brings together a cast and creative team built for the chase.

Anthony Mackie, known to Marvel audiences as Sam Wilson/Captain America, plays the agent Jack Strickland. Jamie Dornan, whose credits include The Fall, Belfast and The Tourist, portrays the career thief, Paul Galvin. Their opposing roles anchor a story built around anticipation and miscalculation.

The supporting cast includes Jack Kesy (Deadpool 2), Agathe Rousselle (Titane), Sallie Harmsen (Blade Runner 2049), José Garcia (Now You See Me) and Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country). Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble created and executive produce the series. Kari Skogland, known for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, directs multiple episodes, including the pilot, and executive produces.

12 12 12 premieres on the very streamer that houses one of the biggest hits, Apple TV, on November 13, with two episodes at launch and weekly installments through December 25. The trailer promises more than a vault job: a pursuit in which each phase changes the meaning of the last. Mackie and Dornan may stand on opposite sides of the law, but both are running against the same clock.
