As per Deadline, both actresses Ana de Armas and Jennifer Connelly are in negotiations to join the Apple TV+ spy series titled Safe Houses. However, there is no official update on the casting, and Apple has yet to comment on the matter. If Armas joins the cast, this will be her first series after she made a switch to the WME agency last year.
For Connelly, this will be her return to the Apple TV after her appearance in the TV series Dark Matter. While Armas is expected to play the role of Sofia Jiménez, Connelly is supposed to take the role of Elizabeth Winthrop as per Deadline. Those who are not aware, Safe Houses is based on Dan Fesperman's novel, which follows the events after the death of a CIA officer in Madrid.
And it begins with fugitive agent Sofia Jiménez accused of the crime, and the officer’s widow, Ambassador Elizabeth Winthrop, to investigate the case separately as they discover secrets and conspiracies. For a promising premise like this, which could rival even Netflix's slate of spy films, it is no surprise that Apple TV+ has been actively searching for talent to helm the project.
While it may have landed on Ana de Armas and Jennifer Connelly now, these efforts began with the acquisition of Gideon Raff for the series.
