From box office to Apple TV: Which 2025 hit is coming home?
F1 The Movie releases on 12 December 2025, promising a turbocharged ride through speed, ambition, and redemption. Brad Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, once Formula 1’s brightest rising star, whose career nearly ended after a devastating crash in the 1990s.
Three decades later, Hayes drifts through life as a wandering racer-for-hire until his former teammate Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, persuades him to return to the track. With a failing team depending on him, Sonny faces one final, high-octane chance to reclaim glory and defy fate.
In June 2022, Apple secured distribution rights for F1 in a blockbuster deal reportedly worth $130–140 million, setting the stage for a major cinematic event. The film raced past expectations, opening to $146.3 million worldwide and earning a staggering $631.4 million globally, with $189.5 million from the United States and Canada alone.
Critics praised the film, giving it an 82 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, marking it as Apple Studios’ first box office triumph. Behind its box office success lies a stellar cast, whose talent and charisma made the story unforgettable.
Alongside Brad Pitt, a star-studded cast injects depth and intensity into every role, delivering unforgettable performances that elevate the high-speed drama, making each character as thrilling and compelling as the races themselves.
