Spider-Man did not just swing back; he snatched the city's spotlight before anyone could say "thwip." Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day trades multiversal mayhem for gritty New York streets, pairing Peter Parker with Frank Castle, Yelena Belova, and Bruce Banner while teasing Sadie Sink's hunted Jean Grey. It also crowns Holland as the first live-action Spider-Man to headline four solo films.

Naturally, that triumph leaves one irresistible question: when will Marvel Studios unleash the next Spider-Man adventure, after proving fans simply cannot get enough of their friendly neighborhood wall-crawler?

Yes, a Spider-Man movie is swinging its way towards a release, but it is not a Tom Holland-Peter Parker Spider-Man movie. The next confirmed Spider-Man movie at the moment is Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, an animated feature set to release in theaters on 18 June 2027. Finally, fans will get to see how Miles Morales is going to deal with his own evil variant, Prowler.

As for Tom Holland's Spider-Man, his future appearances in Marvel at the moment are based only on theories and rumors. While Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will surely trap Dr. Doom in his web in Avengers: Doomsday, one can not be sure if Holland's variant will be there. Although the breadcrumb trail left by Spider-Man: Brand New Day suggests that Holland's Spider-Man being in space could set the stage to help define his central role in Avengers: Secret Wars.

While Earth 616's Spider-Man may not be facing the man who carries the same face as his martyred mentor, he will be taking on the burden of being the leader of the heroes in Avengers: Secret Wars. While one looks forward to seeing the once young and bubbly Peter Parker take on the charismatic role as a leader, and perhaps wear a Symbiote suit, a secret that even Holland has no idea about, the no confirmation from Marvel about Spider-Man 5 may pour cold water over their excitement.

The closer Avengers: Secret Wars gets, the more the chatter about a reboot grows, and so does the passing of the Spider-Man mantle.

Is a new live-action Spider-Man hiding amongst us?

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures do not appear ready to let Spider-Man hang up the webs just because Spider-Man: Brand New Day has landed. Industry chatter points to the latest blockbuster serving as the opening chapter of a fresh multi-film saga, making a fifth solo outing feel more like a question of timing than possibility. Peter Parker's story, it seems, still has plenty of skyline left to conquer.

Tom Holland, however, has kept audiences guessing with the theatrical flair of someone who knows every spoiler is priceless. His playful "Pass" when asked about Spider-Man 5 has only fueled speculation, even as the actor continues discussing a long-term plan that could eventually pass the mantle to Miles Morales. We will have to see who will be in the next live-action Spider-Man movie when the time allows us to know.
