Anne Hathaway is entrusting the rest of the year to fellow A-listers like Zendaya as she disappears, just as she promised. Many times, celebrities say something that might mean nothing and is just meant for generating laughs. But Anne Hathaway does not play like that. Just a few days ago, she said she would vanish in a plume of smoke once the last premiere of Verity happens. Who would have guessed she was serious?

However, she meant what she said and has now delivered on her promise, leaving everything else to her fellow A-listers.

In a recently shared Instagram post, Anne Hathaway is seen getting ready for her latest film Verity’s premiere, when she suddenly disappears. To add to the joke, the post also had clips of Hathaway from different Verity premieres with the news headline:

“As Promised, Anne Hathaway Vanishes into a Plume of Smoke.”

The post also had a clip of Hathaway counting everyone off for a photo-op at the Verity premiere in NYC. The clip had the headline:

“Anne Hathaway Simply Evaporates.”

The Instagram video finally concluded with a message for her fellow A-listers - Zendaya, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Florence Pugh - urging them to “bring it home.” In the post, she also thanked everyone for their support and for making the year unforgettable for her.

Just a couple of days ago, Anne Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight that she is going to “vanish in a plume of smoke” once Verity comes out in theaters. By the comment, the 43-year-old actress meant to say that she will go on a much-deserved break after having the busiest year of her career, with a total of five coming out this year.

Anne Hathaway Net Worth 2026: Inside the Oscar-Winning Actress’s Multi-Million-Dollar Fortune

However, this hiatus will be short-lived, as she will be back to work for a very special project.

Anne Hathaway’s upcoming hiatus has a firm expiration date, with the Oscar winner slated to get back to work in March 2027 alongside Tom Cruise for the upcoming sequel to Days of Thunder. In the follow-up to Tony Scott's classic 1990 racing drama, Cruise will step back into the driving shoes of Cole Trickle, while Hathaway enters the high-octane world of NASCAR as both a team owner and an engineer. Directed by Jonathan Levine from a script by Will Staples, the movie has already secured an exclusive theatrical and IMAX release date from Paramount for June 2, 2028.

This timeline sets up a seamless transition for the actress. After wrapping up projects like Verity, Hathaway will enjoy a well-deserved break from the intense Hollywood grind before diving straight into a completely different genre opposite Cruise. Following an extraordinarily busy year spanning fashion comedies, epic mythologies, dinosaur features, and psychological thrillers, the racetrack is officially on the horizon.
