Anna Faris revealed that she often felt undervalued during her time with the Scary Movie franchise, despite being one of its leading stars. In an interview with Variety, Faris revealed that as a child, her anxiety was so intense that she became convinced she would one day be falsely accused and framed for murder. She also reflected on times when she believed Hollywood no longer knew what to do with her career.
“I was an offbeat kid with a deep sense of injustice. I was convinced that I was going to be framed for murder. I really entertained the idea. So, I spent six weeks in the summer wearing these disgusting royal purple knitted gloves because I thought anytime I opened anything, they were going to catch my fingerprints, as an eight-year-old.”
Faris further reflected on her complicated relationship with the Scary Movie franchise, saying she often felt underpaid and undervalued despite being one of its central stars. Speaking with Variety, she revealed that she was locked into a multi-picture deal early in her career and did not receive the kind of compensation many would expect from a blockbuster franchise. She then added that neither she nor Regina Hall received pay comparable to their male counterparts.
"I felt the love around the world from different people, but not in Hollywood, I felt undervalued," claimed Faris.
Meanwhile, the recent turn of events has once again brought back the spotlight on the character that made her famous.
How Anna Faris became the heart of the Scary Movie series?
Anna Faris was the main character in the Scary Movie franchise since the first installment, when she portrayed Cindy Campbell. With her portrayal of Campbell, Faris contributed to defining the spoof movies by incorporating slapstick humor, a straight-faced demeanor, and self-referential humor to characterize these films. Her character is remembered as the most identifiable character from the spoof film industry.

The success of Scary Movie in 2000 brought Faris, whose present net worth is $30 million, into mainstream Hollywood as a prominent comedy actress. In total, she featured in four films as Campbell, contributing to making the Scary Movie franchise one of the most financially successful movie spoofs in history. The scenes between Faris and Brenda Meeks, who was played by Regina Hall, also emerged as a fan favorite.
Meanwhile, through this interview, the viewers can see that Faris is not only an accomplished actress but also one who was once full of doubts about herself. Although she admitted to having felt insecure during her childhood days, underappreciated, and uncertain of where she was headed at some stage in her career, she acknowledged the role that the Scary Movie movies have played in her life.
