The emotional farewell in Euphoria showed previously unseen archival footage of Angus Cloud as Fezco from the show's first season. The scene was a tribute to the actor, who passed away from an accidental overdose in 2023. Speaking on the show's tribute to her son, Lisa Cloud shared a few heartfelt words.

“The massive public emotional outpouring on social media honoring my beloved son's beautiful soul says everything,” Cloud reportedly told TMZ.

Fans poured out an overwhelming amount of love and support for Angus Cloud and his family throughout the show's final season. As per TMZ, Lisa Cloud shared that she watched the HBO series' final season and appreciated its tribute to her son. While she was just as unaware of the unseen archival clip as the viewers, she had suspected that the creators would include something rare and special to honor him.

She also added that she had immense faith in Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and his wife, Ashley Lent Levinson. There were high expectations from fans as well, many of whom deeply loved both Cloud and his character, Fezco. That love and affection was something Levinson kept in mind while creating the tribute scene, which honored Cloud as well as Fezco.

Sam Levinson’s tribute to Angus Cloud and Fezco

Sam Levinson chose to keep Angus Cloud’s character, Fezco, alive in Euphoria's final season. Fez is revealed to be serving a 30-year prison sentence following the police raid on his house in Season 2. And although both Rue and Lexi mention him throughout the season, he does not physically appear until the finale.

“Angus didn’t make it in real life, so at least in the made-up world of Euphoria, he’s still alive,” Levinson said during a post-show segment at the premiere, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

During Rue’s dream sequence, she hears a news report suggesting that Fez has escaped from prison and goes looking for him. Her search leads her to the gas station before the scene transitions to previously unseen footage of Rue and Fez smiling together in a field as they gaze toward the horizon. And the massive love and affection from the Euphoria fans that has continued to pour over for Cloud is a powerful reminder of the impact that he had left.
