Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Zahara, has officially removed her father’s last name from her name. Back in 2024, Pitt and Jolie finalized their divorce, nearly eight years after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. That same year, a pattern began among the former couple’s children, with their daughter dropping the surname Pitt.

This year, Jolie’s daughter Zahara followed suit, removing her father’s last name, Pitt, from her name.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Zahara, has dropped her father’s last name in a Los Angeles Superior Court. Following a hearing on September 28, 2026, she will now officially go by the name Zahara Marley Jolie. As per the court documents, her name change was approved without any objections.

The Daily Mail further reported that the name change was finalized by Judge Virginia Keeny. For those who are not aware, Pitt and Jolie adopted Zahara back in 2005. Zahara did not use the name Pitt when she graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta in May. Instead, she went by Zahara Marley Jolie. She also used the same name in November 2023 when she was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

However, Zahara is not the first of Pitt and Jolie’s children to drop the Pitt surname.

Shiloh Jolie is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s second-oldest daughter and their first biological child. After turning 18 in 2024, Shiloh stopped using Pitt as her last name. She later officially removed the surname Pitt and was the first one among the siblings to do so.

Maddox, who was adopted by Jolie in 2002, is their eldest child. Pitt legally adopted him before his marriage to Jolie. Following Shiloh, Maddox also took steps to remove Pitt from his name. Earlier this month, Maddox officially had the surname removed.

Zahara is the third of their children to seek a legal name change, but she may not be the last. Most recently, Vivienne, Pitt and Jolie’s daughter, also requested to change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, with a hearing set for November 2. If there are no objections, Vivienne could become the fourth child to have her name legally changed.
