Andrew Garfield is seemingly eyeing a one-of-a-kind story if he were to return for another Spider-Man movie. The actor has long been rumored to reprise his role in the franchise, and the speculation only grew louder after he and Tobey Maguire appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, he has fielded countless questions about returning as Spider-Man in nearly every interview.

Most recently, the actor was asked once again about whether he would like to return to the franchise. Much to fans' relief, the actor did not dismiss the idea. However, for Marvel to bring Garfield back for another Spider-Man movie, they may have to come up with an entirely new concept.

Andrew Garfield recently sat down with Mike DeAngelo on The Playlist's The Discourse podcast to talk about his new film, The Magic Faraway Tree. Toward the end of the conversation, DeAngelo managed to ask Garfield what kind of Marvel concept could possibly convince him to suit up as Spider-Man once again. The actor seemingly put forward a fascinating condition for making that happen.

“I would need it to be very strange,” he said. “I would want it to be just completely unexpected, like a genre of Spider-Man that you’ve never seen before, that feels very left field.”

While Garfield's condition mentioned in the podcast, leaves the door open to several possibilities, he suggested that it could be a road trip movie. The fourth Spider-Man film has certainly taken a darker and different approach, so Marvel is clearly open to experimenting. While there are no official updates, the studio at least has an idea of what it would take if it ever decides to approach the actor about reprising the role of Peter Parker.

Now, apart from this question, the actor also finally addressed the speculation sparked by Spider-Man: Brand New Day about his potential return.

Andrew Garfield opened up about Spider-Man Brand New Day rumors

The ending of Spider-Man: Brand New Day hinted at the existence of another Spider-Man, sparking speculation about Andrew Garfield's return. During an interview with Screen Rant, the actor addressed the rumors, admitting that he has not heard about the theory. When asked whether he was 'werewolfing' fans again, similar to how he denied his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Garfield denied and even pointed to other Spider-Men across different universes.

“I guess so. It could be. Who knows?" he said when asked if it was Tobey Maguire. "Or maybe Miles Morales. I don’t know,” he further added.

The post-credits scene of Brand New Day showed Ned's Spider-Tracker locating Spider-Man in Queens before it suddenly malfunctioned and lost the signal entirely. Later, Spider-Man appeared to be traced somewhere far beyond Earth, and it ended with the message, "Spider-Man will return." While Garfield's comments do not offer any clues about the intriguing post-credits scene, it remains to be seen what it actually means and whether it has any connection to his potential return.
