Apparently, Juliet needed only one thing to escape tragedy: considerably better pop music, and & Juliet delivered with magnificent enthusiasm. The record-breaking jukebox musical has enjoyed an exceptionally successful Broadway run by rewriting William Shakespeare’s ending, giving Juliet a life beyond Romeo, and pairing her reinvention with Max Martin’s greatest pop hits, yet all that is coming to an end with the Broadway show's final performance on January 3, 2027.
After years of dancing through Shakespeare with Max Martin anthems blazing, the Broadway sensation is sadly ready for its final curtain.
& Juliet is planning its last bow
The curtain call may be approaching, but & Juliet still has plenty of applause left in the tank. The Broadway hit announced its January 3, 2027, closing through an official joint press-release statement from producers Theresa Steele Page and Eva Price, reflecting on a four-year run that has welcomed more than 1.5 million people and defied expectations for jukebox musicals.
“We’re incredibly proud of the run we’ve had on Broadway, and the story of inclusion, acceptance and second chances we’ve been able to share with more than 1.5 million people in our four years on Broadway,” the producers said. Their words capture exactly what made & Juliet more than a playlist with a plot, pairing William Shakespeare’s classic with Max Martin hits and a boldly rewritten fate.

As of September 10, 2026, audiences have roughly 131 performances left to catch the Stephen Sondheim Theatre favorite before its final bow. With about 16.5 weeks remaining at the standard eight performances per week, there are still plenty of chances to join Juliet’s pop-powered escape from tragedy. The exact tally could shift around holiday scheduling, but the end is unmistakably approaching.
With new beginnings such as a Broadway adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You and upcoming farewells such as & Juliet, it feels like the perfect time to revisit the biggest feats the musical has pulled off during its run.
& Juliet and her broadway winning streak
If Broadway were handing out trophies for sheer staying power, & Juliet would have quite a shelf to fill. The Max Martin jukebox musical recouped its $17 million capitalization in 2024, joining the rare group of post-pandemic original musicals to reach profitability. It also became the lone new musical from its 2022–2023 season still running.

Then came the numbers that make the achievement even harder to ignore. & Juliet is set to reach 1,723 regular performances, placing it among Broadway’s 50 longest-running musicals, while its grosses have surpassed $175 million and attendance has topped 1.5 million. Its celebrity casting and international expansion only sweetened the triumph, making its impending Broadway farewell all the more bittersweet.
