As Marvel expands its universe with a new chapter on the X-Men, several actors have reportedly been in talks to join the franchise. One name that has been buzzing in the rumor mill since last year is Ana de Armas. The actress is one of Hollywood’s most talked-about stars, after her performances in Blade Runner 2049 and Knives Out.

While an official update is awaited, the internet has continued to buzz with speculation about the actress and which character she could play in the MCU. From White Tiger to Jessica Drew, the list is long. Now, even in a universe as massive as Marvel, with countless characters and stories, five special roles seem especially ideal for de Armas.

Rogue

Rogue is one of the superheroes in the X-Men universe, first appearing in Avengers Annual #10 (1981). She initially appeared as a villain before eventually joining the X-Men and even becoming an Avengers leader. Rogue’s ability allows her to temporarily absorb the powers and memories of others through physical touch.

De Armas could be a great fit for the role if she could effectively portray both sides of Rogue’s character, from the villainous beginnings to her evolution into a hero.

Enchantress

Enchantress first appeared in Journey into Mystery #103 (April 1964), initially introduced as Amora, an Asgardian sorceress. She has long been one of Thor’s most formidable enemies, using her powerful magic. Much later, another character, Sylvie Lushton, took on the name of Enchantress in Marvel Comics. As for de Armas, she could play Amora, portraying the formidable and dangerous enemy for Thor.

Mystique

Rebecca Romijn is set to reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday. After Romijn, many questioned whether Ana de Armas could play a new version of Mystique. The character first appeared in Ms. Marvel #16 (April 1978). Although Mystique appears with blue skin and red hair, the mutant has the ability to shapeshift and mimic the appearance and voice of anyone.

Black Cat

Black Cat previously appeared in Marvel movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Felicity Jones taking on the role in a brief cameo. However, the character has yet to receive a full-fledged live-action adaptation. Following Jones’ brief appearance, de Armas could be a great fit to bring Black Cat to life in the MCU.

Black Cat is the alter ego of Felicia Sara Hardy, who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 in July 1979. She is highly skilled in martial arts and acrobatics and has also been one of Spider-Man’s most notable love interests in the comics.

Elektra

Elektra first appeared in Daredevil #168 and has been both an enemy and an ally, as well as a love interest, of Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Following the murder of her father, she becomes a highly trained assassin under the guidance of the Hand. She has also crossed paths with Wolverine in the comics. Given the character’s complexity and combat skills, de Armas could be a strong choice to bring Elektra to life on screen.

It was only last year that insider Daniel Richtman reported on X that de Armas was in talks to join Marvel for a major role. However, there has been no official update on her rumored involvement since then. If the reports do turn out to be true, it remains to be seen whether the actress will take on one of these roles or surprise fans with a different Marvel character.
