Batman is set to take on one of his darkest forms yet in an R-rated animated movie. Warner Bros. Animation has dropped the first look at the World's Greatest Detective in the upcoming film, Batman: Knightfall. So, here is a look at the first trailer of the movie, which is set to feature one of the most terrifying villains.

Warner Bros. is adapting the iconic Batman: Knightfall into a trilogy of animated films, and the trailer for the first part, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall , is finally here. The film also had its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The first trailer for the R-rated movie shows Bruce Wayne facing off against Bane, who famously breaks Batman.

While Bruce Wayne recovers from his injury, the far more violent vigilante Azrael steps in to take Batman's place and protect Gotham City. However, as Azrael's methods become increasingly brutal, Bruce must reclaim the mantle of the Dark Knight. While The Dark Knight Rises featured Bane breaking Batman, this is the first time the entire Knightfall trilogy is set to be adapted for the screen.

The story is expected to continue with Knightquest and KnightsEnd, the second and third installments based on the acclaimed comic book saga. Batman: Knightfall Part 1 stars Anson Mount as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Michael Mando as Bane, and Pablo Schreiber as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael. The film is expected to be released later this year.
