Streaming giants are now trying everything in their power to provide the maximum customer satisfaction amid increasing competition. Everything must be streamlined and optimized as per the customer’s demand to make their experience on the platform as smooth as possible, as an immersive experience leads to more hours spent on the platform. In that effort, Amazon has taken another step to make the user experience even better.

Customers are increasingly requesting personalized multiview livestreams, which allow them to watch various video feeds on one screen, especially for sports. Responding to their requests, AWS, the cloud services branch of Amazon, is now introducing a new service that will enable streamers to broadcast up to 11 feeds in a single customized channel.
AWS unveiled new features in its suite of video services on Thursday, including automated backfill of empty ad inventory, per-viewer dynamic multiview, and AI-generated metadata generation to provide monetization options depending on what is happening on screen. The new features will be on display at IBC 2026, which takes place in Amsterdam from September 11–14.

With the new AWS Elemental MediaPackage Dynamic Multiview, viewers may select their own multi-camera arrangement from a single set of encoded sources and have it delivered to any device via either Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) or regular HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) without having to pay for per-layout encoding.
However, the implementation of the new feature was not that easy, as Amazon’s AWS had to work to overcome previous errors, in hopes of turning this into a saving grace for the streamer amid growing troubles.
An upgrade for the customers achieved through difficulty
According to AWS, current methods for putting multiview features into practice have required trade-offs. For instance, client-side compositing requires specialized software development kits for every device, whereas tiled encoding restricts reach to machines capable of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). Every layout combination must be pre-encoded for server-side compositing (each costing as much as a new channel).

In comparison, AWS MediaPackage Dynamic Multiview provides a single adaptive bitrate stream via HLS or DASH, stitching multi-camera and multi-feed layouts on demand from encoded sources. Sources use AWS Elemental MediaLive for one-time encoding. The layouts are then assembled in the compressed domain without re-encoding by Elemental MediaPackage. According to AWS, the output does not require an SDK, per-device builds, or new vendors and can reach over 95% of consumer devices with a single digital rights management (DRM) key.
