Angela Bassett says that her American Horror Story character will go all out for Season 13. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy has clearly taken things up a notch for the newest season of his horror anthology series. While the plot has been tightly under wraps, Murphy has announced that several actors will return to the show to reprise their respective roles, for what appears to be one of the biggest battles yet.

And one of those returning stars is Malcolm X actress Bassett, who will reprise her role as Marie Laveau.

Angela Bassett is returning to reprise her role as Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen in American Horror Story. Her character previously appeared in "Coven" and "Apocalypse." And if Bassett’s comments about her character are any indication, Season 13 could bring in a fascinating clash of drama and horror.

“We can expect all the fierceness that is Marie Laveau the voodoo Queen. All the fierce! the fight ! the spunk! the attitude! the magic! the spirituality, the mysticism. All of that, you know, it's Gumbo,” she told Entertainment Tonight. 

In her conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the actress further spoke about her excitement to return for the series. Several actors who previously appeared in the series and played multiple characters will return to reprise their respective roles.

As Murphy previously revealed in a conversation with Vogue, Evan Peters will portray five characters, while Sarah Paulson will reprise six of her previous roles. Moreover, the co-creator has also brought back Jessica Lange, who appeared in the very first season of American Horror Story.

She was the first actor whom Murphy had approached while developing the series. 

In a conversation with Vogue, Ryan Murphy shared that he wanted to do something huge for Season 13 of American Horror Story, especially since the number 13 has been associated with so many stories and superstitions. While he had yet to fully develop his vision for the season at that time, Murphy knew he wanted Jessica Lange to be involved. So, he decided to approach Lange and invited her to dinner.

“I didn’t know what it was, but I knew that I could only do it with Jessica,” he recalled.

He further spoke about how Lange had shared that people often approached her to talk about American Horror Story. Murphy recalled that the actress seemed nostalgic while discussing the show. That was when he pitched his idea for the new season, and she agreed to return.

Later, other actors, including Evan Peters and more, joined the cast. Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman are also part of the cast. Expectations are higher than ever, as the new season premieres on FX.
