Ahead of Their League 2 Journey, Manager Phil Parkinson Reveals the Tough Challenge Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Will Face This Summer

Back in November 2020, one would have never thought Wrexham AFC would reach where it is today. Before Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, promotion from the National League also seemed like a distant dream. However, since the duo took over, even the Premier League seems achievable for the Red Dragons now. The Deadpool star and McElhenney helped Wrexham fulfill its dream of nearly 20 years as Wrexham returned to League 2. But ahead of their comeback to the League, Phil Parkinson opened up about the club’s “major challenge” ahead.

Parkinson revealed the club’s plans to strengthen the squad as they prepare to compete in League 2 and even admitted that they were in talks with various players. However, things are not as simple for Reynolds’ team. While speaking to The Leader, Parkinson revealed, “Like I keep saying, we have got a good squad and to get better players than the ones we have already got is really tough.“

In continuation, Parkinson added that the club has its eyes on two or three players, which he feels will improve the team. The league-winning manager even revealed that they would do everything to bring them to the squad.
While the club surely has some big plans ahead of their League 2 journey, the summer for the Red Dragons did not start off great. It might surprise you to know, but two players have already rejected the club’s offer. Jonny Williams picked sides with Gillingham instead of Wrexham, while Alfie May might soon be signing for Charlton. As of late, Wrexham will soon be starting with their pre-season friendlies.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney surely turned the tide for the Red Dragons. Not only did they help fulfill the club’s dream of promotion, but they also put Wrexham on the map. The club’s popularity has skyrocketed and they will even be playing legendary team Manchester United very soon. And recently, the latest updates about the match surfaced online.

The Red Dragons are all set to play the Red Devils in July next month. Reports suggest that the match will take place in San Diego next month. While the US fans were excited to see United bring out its star players for the fixture, the club has other plans. As per reports by Manchester Evening News, the Premier League giants will be flying out its youth team against Wrexham. This will be done to give the young players a chance.
