The reigning king of the modern rom-com, Glen Powell, is making his return with yet another promising masterpiece. This rom-com legacy goes all the way back to 2018, when he impressed with his performance in Netflix’s very own Set It Up, and then came Hit Man. Soon after, the actor joined Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney in Anyone But You.

The charming chemistry between Powell and Sweeney became an instant favorite, where audiences even believed the actors were dating in real life. Now, Powell will be treading the very high waves that brought him a box office hit, but this time with a different surfing partner.

Glen Powell is all set to star in Judd Apatow’s next untitled original comedy at Universal. The actress rumored to join Powell for the movie is Madelyn Cline. The Penguin actress Cristin Milioti is already confirmed to join the cast.   Powell will play the role of a country-western star whose career is spiraling, while Cline is set to portray a pop star opposite him.

Sources indicate the filmmakers initially considered real-life pop stars for the role before opening up auditions more broadly. Cline reportedly impressed Apatow and studio executives during a recent meeting, which directly led to an offer, as per Deadline.

The film is being produced under Apatow’s long-running overall deal with Universal through Apatow Productions. It is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on February 5, 2027. This will be Powell's first rom-com movie after Anyone But You, which is still reigning on streaming
