Hollywood loves a secret, but fans have decided Adria Arjona is hiding one inside another. The actress was initially reported to play Maxima in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, yet her cryptic answers, punishing workout routine, and disappearing Maxima references have sent Wonder Woman theories into overdrive. Neither DC Studios nor James Gunn has confirmed the speculation, naturally.

As Man of Tomorrow anticipation climbs, Adria Arjona feeds the fire with training that screams superhero, whether Maxima or Wonder Woman.

While promoting her new action movie Onslaught, Adria Arjona revealed to Women’s Health that her workout routine can stretch into a full-day physical marathon. She starts with roughly 45 minutes of cardio, follows it with two hours of weightlifting, and then works boxing rounds into the mix. That is quite the superhero schedule.

“Physically, it’s exhausting, but it’s all for the greater good,” Adria Arjona says, summing up the punishing routine behind her latest transformation. She boxes for six rounds, eats repeatedly throughout the day, and admits that the process is hard work. Still, the actress says she has never felt stronger, making every grueling session worthwhile.

In the Women’s Health video, Adria Arjona also explains why boxing has become such an important part of her training. Years of throwing punches have sharpened her confidence, focus, and ability to pick up choreography quickly. Those skills now carry over to stunt work, where she says she arrives on set feeling considerably stronger.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ Wraps Filming, Sets July 2027 as Theatrical Release Date

Adria Arjona’s punishing workout may have unknowingly reopened the Man of Tomorrow role debate, making the case for Maxima versus Wonder Woman even more intriguing.

Who fits the Man of Tomorrow story better, Maxima or Wonder Woman?

The Maxima theory has one major advantage: the plot actually seems to have a place for her to land. With Brainiac as the looming threat and Man of Tomorrow expanding into cosmic territory, an alien queen from Almerac feels considerably less like a surprise guest and more like someone who received the correct invitation.

Wonder Woman, meanwhile, would have to squeeze through a rather crowded door. The movie already has Superman, Supergirl, multiple Green Lanterns, Blue Beetle, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Lex Luthor, with James Gunn describing the story as being as much about Lex Luthor as Superman. Diana Prince appearing amid that cosmic traffic could make her debut feel more like a celebrity cameo than the grand arrival an iconic member of the DC Trinity deserves.

Maxima, by comparison, can slide directly into the alien conflict without demanding an entirely separate narrative lane.

Of course, that does not mean James Gunn has handed fans the answer key. The filmmaker could have something considerably more mischievous planned, especially if Adria Arjona’s Maxima report is deliberately obscuring a much bigger surprise. Whatever the truth, one look at that workout makes one thing wonderfully clear: whether Arjona is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman, she is preparing to be one seriously strong character.
