The actress is already confirmed for James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, but her character remains officially undisclosed. That mystery has given every new glimpse of her preparation a little more weight than an ordinary celebrity fitness post.

Arjona has now shown just how seriously she is approaching the mysterious role, sharing footage of herself moving through strength exercises and boxing drills. Her accompanying comments only added fuel, as she described how “the excitement of playing the woman I am playing gives me everything I need to wake up...” It is the sort of deliberately vague wording that sends a fandom already trained to spot clues straight into detective mode.

The timing is particularly interesting because Arjona’s career has been steadily moving toward physically demanding territory. Her turn as Bix Caleen in Andor gave her a dramatic showcase within the Star Wars universe, while Hit Man demonstrated her ability to hold her own opposite Glen Powell in a very different register. Her latest film, Onslaught, pushes that trajectory further, casting her as Celeste, a former Marine who battles super-soldiers in Adam Wingard’s pulpy action thriller.

That action pedigree makes the DC speculation less fanciful than it might have been a few years ago. Arjona has also been attached to Michael B. The biggest wrinkle is that Arjona’s reported Man of Tomorrow role has long been tied to Maxima, the powerful alien queen from DC Comics. TheWrap reported in April that Arjona had landed a role in the sequel, while noting that Maxima’s identity had not been officially confirmed. Gunn had also previously pushed back against reports surrounding Maxima casting, making the secrecy around Arjona’s character even more intriguing.

The debate only prompted a defense from @toiinfinite, who doubled down on the Wonder Woman theory: “True but she's been saying she wanted to play wonder woman she wouldn't settle or put herself through this for maxima.”

Then came the reaction that perhaps best captures why the clip has become such a perfect fandom clue.

One fan wrote, “she really is ‘this woman i’m playing’ 😭😭” The joke works because Arjona’s carefully chosen wording has left enough room for fans to project Diana onto it without her actually naming the character.

For now, Maxima remains the strongest reported explanation, while Wonder Woman remains the more exciting theory. Either way, Arjona’s transformation shows that whatever James Gunn has planned, it is a role demanding considerably more than simply putting on a superhero costume.
