Buried treasure, ruthless pirates and a dangerous voyage have made Treasure Island a timeless adventure classic. Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel has inspired countless film and television adaptations through the years, keeping its characters and high-seas adventure alive for generations to come. Interest has already been piqued by Ridley Scott’s upcoming take on the story, especially with the filmmaker bringing his experience with large-scale historical and action-driven productions to the beloved tale. 

Now, Scott's new take on the classic pirate adventure is already raising some eyebrows with its possible cast. 

In an interview with Collider, Ridley Scott has reportedly hinted that he is going to cast Adolescence star Owen Cooper for his upcoming movie, Treasure Island. Scott confirmed the development when talking about his upcoming film The Dog Stars. He further hinted that Hugh Jackman might also be attached with the project. The filmmaker revealed he hopes to get Hugh Grant on board, another big name possible for the cast of the upcoming adventure film. 

“Yes, with Hugh Jackman. I hope Hugh Grant, and I hope the kid from Adolescence.” Scott said, hinting that Cooper might join the cast. 

As hinted in the same Collider interview by Scott, the Adolescence star, which recently dominated the UK TV, might reportedly be selected for the role of Jim Hawkins. The young hero Jim Hawkins is at the heart of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Jim is a curious and adventurous boy who gets hold of a treasure map of the notorious pirate Captain Flint and sets off on a dangerous quest to find the buried treasure. Along his journey he meets pirates including the cunning Long John Silver and has to face treachery and danger.
