Needless to say, a game or film adaptation of this darker and more complex take on Batman has long been anticipated.
And finally, the moment has arrived as Absolute Batman gets a game. However, much like the character, the game also has a surprising new format.

The dark world of Absolute Batman is finally set to enter the gaming space. Instead of a video game debut, its first venture will be across board games, through Batman: Gotham City Chronicles. For its fourth season, the game will draw heavy inspiration from this gritty world.
With a primary focus on Batman, several other characters from the comics are also expected to be created for the game. The previous Batman: Gotham City Chronicles season sets have raised the bar, so what makes the new season different? Season 4 of Batman: Gotham City Chronicles will offer fresh versions of iconic characters and new story missions.
It introduces vertical gameplay, letting players fight across rooftops, streets, and interiors with multi-level maps. The game also includes multiple modes, in which one can play solo, with friends, or against each other. Clearly, the expectations are higher for the game.
Apart from the game development, there is also chatter around what is set to happen in the next chapter of Absolute Batman.
New enemies to raise the stakes in Absolute Batman
Absolute Batman has always leaned into its wild, over-the-top villains such as Killer Croc. However, its newest additions take a surprising turn. In the upcoming issue, June 2026, Two-Face and Penguin will be introduced.

Instead of extreme transformations, their designs are subtle, like Two-Face hides part of his face and Penguin uses weaponized crutches. This is quite a surprising change in the story. And the emotional stakes are higher since it is not just a fight, but a clash between former friends.
It remains to be seen whether Batman can save Gotham while also trying to save what is left of those broken relationships.
