'Abbott Elementary' Creator Quinta Brunson Signs Multi-Year Disney Deal, Exits Warner Bros. TV

Actress-creator Quinta Brunson has landed a new multi-year overall deal with Disney, ending her long-running television partnership with Warner Bros. TV. The move comes as the Emmy-winning creator and star of Abbott Elementary continues to grow her footprint outside the hit ABC sitcom. After turning Abbott Elementary into one of television's biggest success stories, Brunson is opening a new chapter with Disney.   

With the new deal, Disney becomes the home for her future television work and creative endeavors.

Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson has inked a new multiyear overall deal with Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television, as per Deadine. As part of the new pact, Brunson and her Fifth Chance Productions shingle will develop, write, and executive-produce projects for Disney Entertainment Television’s brands and platforms. Last year, Brunson hired Erin Wehrenberg as head of creative affairs for her Fifth Chance Productions. Of course, Brunson has a long-standing relationship with Disney from Abbott Elementary, which is still a hit for ABC and Hulu and has won four Emmys.

“I am so grateful to work alongside Disney, Warner Bros. Television, and 20th Television on Abbott Elementary,” Brunson said in a statement. 

As per Deadline, talking about the show, Brunson further said that making the show had been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career, and she was proud of what the partnership had accomplished. She admitted that she was thrilled to officially welcome Fifth Chance to the Disney and 20th Television family as the series continues to grow. Brunson said the deal was an exciting new chapter in her career as a creator, producer, and storyteller.

Long before leaving Warner Bros, which was recently taken over by Paramount, and signing a new Disney deal, Quinta Brunson had already transformed Abbott Elementary into a defining success that reshaped her career.
