'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms 2' Production Halted in Gran Canaria Due to Severe Flooding
A literal flood of biblical proportions may delay the return to Westeros, as the production team navigates these rising tides. A sudden environmental shift in the production of HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has forced the crew of the highly successful HBO series to abandon their coastal stronghold for safer ground.
After the massive success of the debut season, fans were eager for more adventures featuring the legendary Dunk and Egg. However, the production of the second season has encountered a formidable opponent that even a knight cannot defeat with a sword.
Dramatic weather shifts at a key filming location have forced the crew to pause their cameras and reconsider their entire logistical strategy.

HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 production in a pause
As reported by the ScreenRant, the production of the second season of HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms recently faced a significant crisis on the island of Gran Canaria, Spain. Extreme rainfall during the winter caused the Las Niñas Dam to reach water levels not seen in fifteen years, resulting in a sudden overflow. This surge was so powerful that it physically submerged large portions of the prepared film sets located near the reservoir.
Environment Councilor Raúl García Brink confirmed the severity of the situation and the necessary shift in filming locations. He stated that the production company was forced to line up filming on the Peninsula.
Because the planned filming area was originally reserved from February through mid-May, the team must now pivot their entire operation to the Spanish mainland. Part of the set remains underwater, requiring a specialized action plan for removal and environmental cleanup once the water finally recedes.
The natural elements have caused chaos in Spain but will it affect committed to their timeline.
Adapting the sworn sword for 2027
Despite the flooding setbacks, HBO has not announced any shift in the release plan, and probably it will maintain an annual schedule with a projected release date in 2027. This upcoming season consists of six episodes that will adapt the second novella in the series titled The Sworn Sword.
The plot follows Dunk and Egg as they enter the service of Ser Eustace Osgrey during a bitter land and water dispute. It is quite ironic that a season focused on a fictional drought in the Reach is currently facing real-world flooding issues. Showrunner Ira Parker is back at the helm to guide Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell through the fallout of the Blackfyre Rebellion.

New characters like Lady Rohanne Webber will be introduced as the story expands into more complex political territories. Fans can expect the same high-quality storytelling and character development that made the first season a breakout hit for the network. The resilience of the crew suggests that the journey of the hedge knight is far from over.
