The whirlwind ride across Westeros came to an end far too soon with the last episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. People embraced the adventure of Dunk and Egg, and even the puppet dragons, instead of the fire-breathing ones. Nearly 13 million viewers tuned in to watch each episode, and that speaks much about their fondness for Dunk and Egg. 

Although the first season ended in a devastating bloodbath and heartbreak with Prince Baelor’s death, there was hope for Dunk and Egg to return for another ride across the world to know more about smallfolk. The show was already renewed for a second installment back in December 2025. So, here is everything to know about the return of the duo.

While a season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has got the green light, the cast is not officially revealed yet. However, since it is based on George R.R. Martin’s first book, The Hedge Knight of the trilogy, The Tales of Dunk and Egg, both familiar faces from the first season, as well as intriguing new characters, could be seen in season 2.

Finn Bennett, who played the role of Aerion Targaryen, could also return to reprise his role. Unlike House of the Dragons, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been moving at a very different pace. The second season was renewed even before the first season premiered, and production is already underway, with filming taking place in Belfast. And while the show appears to be aiming for an annual release strategy and could be expected to return in 2027, there has been no official confirmation or update so far.

If anything, the ending of the first season has only made the wait more difficult, with many eager to see what adventure lies ahead for Dunk and Egg.

Plot of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2

The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ended with Ser Duncan the Tall surviving the Trial of Seven at Ashford, before setting off with Egg on yet another adventure. While Egg claimed to have his father’s permission, it turns out he ran away as Prince Maekar is shown to be searching for Dunk. Now, Season 2 is expected to follow the events of the second book, The Sworn Sword.

A year after the duo left Ashford, it will follow Dunk and Egg in the Reach, where they come to help the knight, Ser Eustace Osgrey, in a bittersweet dispute. The next season is also expected show the history of the Blackfyre Rebellion and its impact, and even a glimpse of Winterfell is possible. Clearly, the anticipation for Season 2 is higher than ever.
