As the finale of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms came to an end, there were various hints given about upcoming seasons. Egg’s formal decision to become Ser Duncan the Tall’s squire and eventually his father's realisation that his son went against his wishes. The scene was not actually in the novella but improvised by Ira Parker to resonate with the ongoing emotional atmosphere.

“That's the nature of the novellas. It's not that there are uncertain strings that are pulled all the way through, but every season Dunk and Egg are in a new place, we set up a story, we tell you the story, and we close out the story,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Ira Parker, so far known for aptly adapting the books, plans to incorporate his own ideas to further add a layer to the story without disrupting much of it.

Apart from incorporating his own bits in the story as he revealed to Entertainment Weekly, Parker has also pitched his very own ending to the unpublished stories that George R.R. Martin had provided him. While the showrunner did reveal that he has not heard from the writer yet, given the extraordinary reception of the season, things are headed in a good direction.
