As reported by Deadline, Peacock has greenlit the first-ever TV series based on the Fast & Furious franchise. The series will be written by Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman, who will also serve as showrunners. Vin Diesel, who stars in the franchise movies, announced the series during NBCUniversal’s Upfront event in May this year.

Diesel explained that fans have long wanted the franchise to explore stories set in the world of street racing and expand into television. He had previously been hesitant to bring Fast & Furious to the small screen. However, he changed his mind after Universal Studios chief Donna Langley took charge of NBCUniversal’s television operations.

“That’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family will be protected in the TV space,” he said.

There is no update on whether the series will get more than one season. For now, only the first season has been announced, with Vin Diesel serving as an executive producer. The writers and showrunners, Daniels and Coleman, will also executive-produce the series, which is set to premiere in 2028, as reported by Deadline.
