Backrooms

Project after project, A24 is going into darker and crazier alleys, picking out the most bizarre tales to tell on the screen. The latest of such attempts is Backrooms, the trailer of which will surely give anyone the creeps. Disclosure Day and Rose of Nevada

From the legend himself comes the Steven Spielberg-directed Disclosure Day with Emily Blunt in the central role. Now, coming from Spielberg, the movie already has everyone’s attention, and on top of that, the film has the director’s signature extraterrestrial trope. Coming out on June 12, this flavor of science fiction will surely be a feat to experience in 2026.

A few days down June 12, Mark Jenkin's 2025 British science fiction drama Rose of Nevada stars George MacKay and Callum Turner in pivotal roles. The narrative centers on the Rose of Nevada, a fishing boat that unexpectedly reappears in a Cornish village thirty years after going missing at sea. All the mystery is behind how and why of this incident. The movie comes to theaters on June 19.

Supergirl and The Fifth Element

James Gunn’s second film from the DCU, Supergirl, aims to further establish the world introduced in the Superman movie that came out last year. It will be interesting to see Milly Alcock as the new Supergirl and what her journey entails in this fresh story. Supergirl is scheduled for a June 26 release.

The other half of June 26 is overtaken by nostalgia for a bit, with a 1997 classic ready to spread its magic once again on the big screen, one again. The Fifth Element, starring Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker, and Gary Oldman, was a highly acclaimed and widely loved sci-fi of the time that is coming to theaters once more on popular demand.

As they traverse their now-unrecognizable surroundings, the Platt family quickly learns that staying together is essential to their own survival in The End of Oak Street. This exciting sci-fi starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor in lead roles hits the theaters on August 14.

Right in the next month, dated for a release on September 4, will be the tale of a young woman tormented by family secrets in Jessica Frost. Resident Evil and The Great Beyond

September 18 will be a special day for Resident Evil fans, as after almost five years, they will finally get a new movie from the franchise. The last film that came out in 2021 was a hit and a miss, and the makers have now gone on a course correction by trusting Weapons director Zach Cregger with the reins of the film.

Taking almost a month's break, the screen will reignite on November 13, with J.J. Abrams' scientific fantasy film The Great Beyond landing in theaters. The movie centers on a young, newlywed couple who battle a mystical force in order to survive. Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Merritt Wever, and Samuel L. Jackson are among the cast members.

Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three

The MCU’s last-ditch effort to regain its glory days, Avengers: Doomsday, is the most anticipated title in this entire lineup. The movie will bring back beloved actors like Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and many more. This might just become the spectacle of the year with its ambitious storyline and a star-studded cast. To witness the magic, one ought to visit theaters on December 18.
