They say a change of scenery can fix what nothing else will. For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, that meant swapping California for the English countryside — trading one dramatic Atlantic crossing for another. Their return to the UK on August 26 sent shockwaves through the royal family, but scrutiny wasn't the only thing waiting for them back home.

Just days later, the couple received a distinctly Hollywood-style welcome gift of their own.

As various outlets began publishing that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were returning to the UK, and when in August they actually returned, the reason behind it became a point of discussion, and work was among the top contendors for a right answer. And it may just have been the correct answer as the Sussexes have been greeted with the news of the latest movie, Cookie Queens, under their Archewell Production banner making its way to Paramount+.

According to Paramount+'s upcoming slate, Cookie Queens is set to release on the platform on January 6, 2027. The film follows a coming-of-age story about Girl Scouts and is both written and directed by  Alysa Nahmias. This was not the first star the movie was bringing home as it had also won Audience Award, South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this year.

While on one hand a movie associated with the Sussexes is ready to meet the world through a streaming release, on the other hand, the royal family associated with the Sussexes has publicly issued a letter of guidance distance themselves from the couple.

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry packed their bags more than half a decade ago and moved to the United States, through a best-selling memoir and Prince Harry's numbered returns for court hearings and none by Markle, it became clear that the ties have soared. And any hope that the Sussexes return may have sparked has been neatly folded and kept aside by a letter of guidance issued by King Charles.

The letter states that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be recognized as private citizens. Moreover, it clarified that if they were to work with any charities that charities that they had engaged with previously, it would be in private capacity and not as royal members. The Sussexes came home to scrutiny, but it turns out Hollywood had already sent its own welcome party.
