[http://netflixjunkie.com/the-witcher/]. The British actor portrayed the
character with the utmost authenticity and dedication, making the viewers fall
in love with him all over again. Unfortunately, he left the iconic show after
the third season and handed over the swords and medallions to Liam Hemsworth.
While it left fans feeling heartbroken, they still love the English star for the
most faithful performance as the White Wolf.

The reason he could internalize the character so well was because he was already
a fan before the show was made. Before the showmakers even wrote the scripts,
Cavill wanted to be the lead in the show for these stunning reasons.

HENRY CAVILL DESPERATELY WANTED TO BE GERALT OF RIVIA IN THE WITCHER ADAPTATION

Henry Cavill is one of the biggest nerds who happens to be a die-hard fan of The
Witcher video game. So, when he got to know about the adaptation, he constantly
poked his agent to get him the part. He was so passionate about it that at the
Hall H Panel at San Diego Comic-Con; he expressed his desire for the show to be
made. The Enola Holmes actor also approached Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and said,
“It was something I wasn’t going to let pass me by without giving it my best
shot.”

Hissrich actually felt annoyed by the way Cavill kept on nudging. However, he
also made it very clear that he was not going to give up easily. The Netflix
adaptation took inspiration from the book series of the same name by Polish
writer Andrzej Sapkowski. It also has a video game adaptation that the
40-year-old actor is passionate about.

With the constant work on his physique and fighting skills, Cavill marked his
brilliance in the character. Now, apart from being a fan of video games, there
was another reason behind his obsession as well. Apparently, Cavill was also an
avid fan of the original books. Therefore, he knew The Witcherverse deeply. So,
there was one thing that attracted the actor the most. And it was not the
characters only.

WHAT ELSE DID THE SUPERMAN ACTOR LOVE ABOUT THE WITCHERVERSE?

As we all know, The Witcherverse has several grotesque monsters. As a Witcher,
Cavill fought pretty dangerous ones along with Cirilla throughout the 3 seasons.
So, as he admitted it to Vulture, this quality, the art of monster hunting, of
these mutants he loved the most. People reject the mutants. After going through
an intense transition, only a few mutants survive.
