The satirical superhero show, The Boys, has been winning viewers’ hearts since 2019, but it is coming to an end soon with its series finale scheduled to air on May 20, 2026, on Prime Video. Eric Kripke has been consistent with the dark and twisted humor throughout the seasons, keeping that tone alive from the comic book series written by Garth Ennis, while also surprising fans with the release of every episode.
So, naturally, after the show comes to an end, fans might look for the next best thing, similar to The Boys, to binge-watch, and there is a list, if not a plethora, to check out before the final showdown.
10. Watchmen (2019)

Watchmen is an HBO miniseries created by Damon Lindelof, set in an alternate version of the 20th century. Here, all masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, similar to The Boys, where superheroes exist in morally gray zones.
The comic book series Watchmen, written by Alan Moore, was published by DC Comics between 1986 and 1987, and HBO adapted it into a 9-episode limited series in 2019, where detective Angela Abar, played by Regina King, investigates a heinous crime that unravels multiple conspiracies surrounding the masked vigilantes, especially the most powerful being in that universe, Doctor Manhattan.
And of course, Watchmen also has a gory, compelling, and brutal theme to it, just like The Boys.
9. Daredevil (2015-2018)
Daredevil revolves around the blind masked vigilante Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox. He is particularly defined by his heightened senses and brutal hand-to-hand combat skills, which he uses to save people at night while also helping them as a lawyer by day. The gritty storyline has kept fans on the edge of their seats for four years and beyond, with appearances from some of Marvel’s iconic villains, such as Kingpin, The Punisher, and Elektra Natchios.

The show was a massive success, so much so that they had to bring it back for a sequel, Daredevil: Born Again. The MCU has welcomed the superhero into its franchise as well.
Even though he stands for everything that The Boys does not, that is exactly what makes the Marvel show Daredevil worth watching.
8. The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022)
The animated anthology series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, is a must-watch for all the die-hard fans of The Boys out there. Created by Eric Kripke himself, it is available on Prime Video as well, making it really easy for fans to get into the animated series. The 8-episode-long series features a standalone story in each episode, set in the same chaotic universe as The Boys. Although it is not fully canon, the fan-favourite Homelander origin episode most definitely is, as confirmed by Kripke.
The series includes stories of massive Vought International failures, involving a baby with laser eyes and other equally mayhem-filled episodes that The Boys fans would love to get their hands on.
7. Supernatural (2005-2020)
Who could ever forget the longest-running fantasy TV series, Supernatural, that ruled the 2000s with its classic brotherhood tales involving demons, angels, vampires, ghouls, and every supernatural creature one could dream of? Supernatural is the first hit TV series by Eric Kripke, the very creator of The Boys.

It built such a strong off-screen relationship between him and the cast of Supernatural that Jensen Ackles, who played the role of Dean Winchester in the series, got the part of yet another iconic character in The Boys, Soldier Boy. Supernatural includes themes of dark comedy and emotional gut punches in every episode and is available on Prime Video, which fans would definitely find very entertaining.
Also, the show was so successful that Kripke planned a Supernatural reunion on The Boys, with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins joining the cast for Season 5, Episode 5, titled One-Shots.
6. The Umbrella Academy (2019-2024)
For fans looking for another offbeat superhero series, The Umbrella Academy is a perfect pick. Like The Boys, it offers a much darker twist on the genre. A group of seven trained superheroes tries to find their way in life while saving the world from multiple apocalypses throughout the series, which includes bizarre time travel, family conflicts, and hidden secrets. Fans eagerly watched the four-season-long superhero series, based on the comics by Gerard Way, on Netflix.
If someone loves The Boys for its unique superhero point of view with a fun and drama-filled story, The Umbrella Academy is a must-binge choice.
5. Doom Patrol (2019-2023)
One of the underrated DC Comics superhero teams, Doom Patrol, was adapted by Jeremy Carver in 2019 for a TV series, which is also unlike typical superhero shows. The deep emotional storytelling, found-family trope, and especially the hilarious, weird creativity were loved by fans worldwide. Doom Patrol is what The Boys could have been if they were mentored right.
It includes a group of damaged individuals who gained strange abilities through accidents, experiments, or trauma and are brought together by the mysterious Chief Niles Caulder.
4. Preacher (2016-2019)
Another dark comedy with a gory, satirical theme, Preacher could absolutely be the next best thing for The Boys fans. If one's vibe is a chaotic road trip featuring a small-town preacher with a criminal past and a strange supernatural power, his dangerous ex with sharp survival instincts, and a morally grey vampire, then this Seth Rogen-produced TV show might be exactly what one is looking for.
Preacher includes it all: cults, conspiracies, end-of-the-world plans, drama, and supernatural horror, with the MCU’s Howard Stark actor, Dominic Cooper, at the center of it all.
3. Peacemaker (2022-2025)
James Gunn’s Peacemaker, centered around Christopher Smith and his extreme idea of achieving peace at any cost, is exactly the kind of chaotic watch a The Boys fan needs to binge next. If The Boys is sharp satire with rage, then Peacemaker delivers the same chaos with dance breaks and emotional whiplash.

Introduced in The Suicide Squad, where patriotism was exaggerated to hilarious brutality, Peacemaker later returned in his own spin-off series created by James Gunn. On top of that, John Cena as Peacemaker makes the character both hilarious and unexpectedly emotional.
2. Invincible (2021-Present)
Mark Grayson, a normal teenager, discovers that he has superpowers because his father is none other than Omni-Man in Invincible. An Amazon Original created by Robert Kirkman, this show is another bright, comic-style animated series introduced in 2021 that deconstructs superhero mythology, much like The Boys.

It begins like a classic superhero origin story, but once Grayson uncovers the disturbing truth about his father, the story spirals into something far darker, filled with betrayal, identity crises, and the collapse of everything he believed in.
1. Gen V (2023-2025)
While all these TV shows are worth watching, Gen V is not just a must-watch for entertainment, but it also feeds directly into the twisted storyline of The Boys, making it especially important to watch. Gen V is the messier and gorier version of The Boys, set in the same universe and built on the same moral decay. It is set at a superhero college run by Vought International, and at the center of it all is Marie Moreau, a student with blood-manipulation abilities.

The sudden brutality, satirical corporate horror, mixed with unstable friendships and rivalries, coming-of-age drama, and campus politics, make this show worthwhile. It is set directly between The Boys Season 3 and Season 4, while actively feeding into Season 4’s events, where even Soldier Boy makes a small cameo, making it almost a pre-read before The Boys' showdown amidst the other options.
