When Steven Kight walked on the BAFTA red carpet on Sunday, Deadline got hold of him, asking about the future of the Peaky Blinders franchise and whether he was planning another film in that universe. Knight did not actually know what to say about the question of a possible film, but did talk about the upcoming series currently in production.
“I don’t know about that. We are filming the next series at the moment, that is going really well, and we will have it in the can in about a few weeks,” said the Peaky Blinders boss.
He further added that people are going to be "pleasantly surprised" by the end product and how it ultimately turned out. The interviewer then quickly changed the subject to Bond and whether or not he could shed some light on the development of the project, most probably, how the script is shaping up.
“I can’t apart from it’s going really, really good. It’s going incredibly well. We’ve got the best people. I can’t wait for people to see,” he said about Bond.
However, he did not confirm if he had completed the script and kept his lips sealed on that matter. Therefore, the interviewer switched the question from the script to his partnership with Amazon and how it has been so far with the studio. Knight replied positively to the question, stating that everything is going fantastically.
Although we got something about the next Peaky Blinders project, the development around the next Bond film is shrouded in mystery as ever.
What do we know so far about the next Bond?
Amazon MGM Studios has really managed to assemble a deadly duo in Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and Dune director Denis Villeneuve. It is remarkable how the 26th film of the world-famous spy franchise is set to be penned by the mastermind behind Tommy Shelby’s escapades through Birmingham and London, and directed by the filmmaker who brought the arid and dystopian world of Dune to the big screen.

However, the main element of the film is missing - James Bond. After Daniel Craig hung up his boots as 007, there have only been rumors about different actors in contention for the role, and no confirmation until now. The wait is getting longer and longer with each day springing up a new name for the iconic British spy. With the Amazon MGM still searching for the best-suited actor for the role, only time is now the only teller of what lays ahead.
