But the chemistry underneath crackles not with fear, but with a warmth unexpected. Shu Qui and Vivi Chen take the acting helm, painting a tale that teases more than it tells, wrapped in supernatural suspense with a bond more close than a mother and daughter's.

Film veteran Shu Qi has had her tricks to perfectly act out the harrowed mother she plays in The Resurrected. She revealed that she had imagined her character’s daughter, Jin Jin, played by Vivi Chenlike a close friend, almost like a bestie,” making it feel as if they were "like two sisters", she told Variety, which even helped in heightening the emotional stakes. The tale, after this, could only thicken as two harrowed mothers, Hui-chun and Chao Ching, resurrect the fraud kingpin responsible for their daughters’ kidnapping and torment, facing a narrow seven-day window to exact justice.

The series stars the revered Shu Qi as Wang Hui-chun, and Lee Sinje as Chao Ching. Shu Qi has tagged this role “unlike anything I had previously portrayed,” according to Variety, while Lee Sinje has lauded the screen time given of a narrative centered on women seeking revenge, especially in a Taiwanese/Chinese production. With their interwoven empathies and camaraderie, the actresses' chemistry flickers with moments of levity amid the hardships and horrors of modern-day.
