Critics Choice Association s 2nd Annual Celebration Of Latino Cinema And Television American actress Jenna Ortega arrive

Jenna Ortega has practically grown up beneath studio lights, from appearing as young Jane on Jane the Virgin to surviving Disney Channel family mayhem in Stuck in the Middle; her childhood came with scripts, call sheets, and plenty of early alarms.

Then Netflix handed her Wednesday Addams, a girl whose idea of friendly conversation involves casual threats and a remarkably straight face. The series turned Ortega into a streaming powerhouse amid Nevermore's gothic chaos. Now she is contemplating a future beyond television.

Apparently, even the queen of Wednesday needs space for the rest of the week.

Jenna Ortega wants to give television a rest after Wednesday

Wednesday Addams would probably describe work-life balance as an unfortunate human weakness. Her lead actress sees things differently. During an appearance on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ortega addressed whether another major franchise might tempt her after Wednesday.

“I think after Wednesday, I'll probably be off the TV for a while,” she said.

The reasoning comes with years of experience. Ortega spent much of her childhood hopping between series, including Jane the Virgin and Stuck in the Middle. School doubled as an extended Hollywood apprenticeship.

She also admitted that discussions about other franchises have been limited. Her approach is refreshingly relaxed: whatever opportunity suits her will arrive when the time is right. There is no elaborate retirement announcement, no dramatic door slam, and certainly nothing delivering a resignation letter.

Why is 'Wednesday' Season 2 Clearly Not As Good As Season 1? The Falling Off of Addams' Family

One small catch remains. Wednesday herself has unfinished business, and Netflix is keeping the coffin lid firmly shut.

Wednesday Season 3 has wrapped its Irish shoot, but mysteries remain

Nevermore Academy is reopening its doors, presumably after another painfully inadequate campus safety inspection. Netflix confirmed that Wednesday Season 3 finished filming on September 30, 2026. Cameras returned to the Dublin area, while a behind-the-scenes glimpse from Paris hints that Wednesday's misadventures could stretch beyond her familiar haunted corridors.

The second season left a supernatural traffic jam behind. Enid transformed into an alpha werewolf to rescue Wednesday and fled north, unable to return to human form. Wednesday headed off with Uncle Fester to find her. Meanwhile, Aunt Ophelia was revealed alive in Grandmama Hester's basement, scribbling a particularly unfriendly message about her niece.

Eva Green will play Ophelia, and Winona Ryder joins a newcomer roster that also includes Chris Sarandon, Lena Headey, and Noah Taylor. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán return as Wednesday's parents, with Emma Myers back as Enid. A 2027 premiere looks plausible, but Netflix has announced no release date.
