Lisa Kudrow Reacts to Warner Bros.’ Takeover, Says Netflix Doesn’t “Need to Change Anything”

Over 20 long years, one is bound to see things change shape, size, and form, but the daunting idea of shifting ownership is what has brought Lisa Kudrow to an emotional standstill. The Friends star has her reservations about changes, particularly the ones bound to happen at Warner Bros. On cue, her request to Netflix comes from a place of reminiscing, nostalgia, and history.

Taking a golf cart around for Architectural Digest's tour of Los Angeles, Lisa Kudrow refreshed her memories of the 10 non-stop years she has spent in Phoebe Buffay's shoes at the Warner Bros. Pictures' Burbank studio lot. In the video, while Kudrow found herself unable to recall her first time at the lot, she mustered the courage to ask for preserving the place against all ownership odds.  

"It works, we just shot here," Kudrow began, "whoever buys it, you don't need to change anything." Her plea is possibly directed towards the ongoing transition at Warner Bros., over to Netflix's ownership. "I think what most people really, really hope is that this studio lot is preserved as is," she stated to Architectural Digest. Kudrow took a golf cart and then a cab around the lot, walking through the sprawling sets built out for some of the most prominent shows by Warner Bros. While her tour had been a love letter to Los Angeles, her attachment to the place seemed to stem from the standard-setting show; Friends.

Friends counts as a milestone in the lives of the entire cast and crew of the show. But for Lisa Kudrow, her attachment gets branched further out.

At the brink of the Friends finale, Lisa Kudrow pitched to Warner Bros. the idea for a found-footage style sitcom. In June 2005, Kudrow began her path to a re-run of stardom with her role as Valerie Cherish, a struggling former It girl of television in the show. Renewed for a third season to come sometime in 2026, The Comeback revolved around the portrayal of the entertainment industry innards through Valerie's tryst for a comeback.

Lisa Kudrow stands as a staunch supporter not of ownership sides, but of preserving what made history. Even if it was simply a stage to stomp on while acting, her attachment to Warner Bros. is not merely of success, but of time and camaraderie.
