The twin Hollywood strikes rocked the planned release timeline of Stranger Things season five, pushing it back months behind deadlines. However, as soon as the strikes receded, Netflix called upon its actors and resumed productions on January 8, 2024. However, Mike Wheeler actor Finn Wolfhard revealed that the show has so far only completed three months of production, with nine more months lying ahead.

After facing the horrors of Upside Down with the Hawkins gang, the final fate of Maya Hawke’s character after the end of the last season now looks to be live, not before 2025. Furthermore, with Wolfhard also opening up on several key elements in the work to give the show a proper send-off, Netflix would not like to hasten up unnecessarily without deeming the narrative fit for the lore.
