Jake Connelly, an Arlington Heights native who enjoys video games and the Chicago Bears, initially treated acting as a casual hobby. His entry into the industry was entirely unexpected, sparked by a friend of his mother who directed commercials for Feldco windows, according to the interview with WBEZ.

“He asked me to be in one,” Connelly said in an interview with WBEZ. This early experience led the teen to sign with a talent agency, eventually landing him an audition for the final season of Stranger Things.

Once he secured the role, Connelly had to maintain absolute silence, keeping his involvement a secret from his classmates for a year and a half.

“We had to leave my brother and dad behind. So that was pretty tough. But we got to visit almost every month,” Connelly said in an interview with WBEZ.

To throw people off the scent, he jokingly told his friends he was busy filming a documentary about mayonnaise. Eventually, the secret was out when he traveled to Atlanta to film on location, a move that recently landed him a seat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
