DreamWorks creativity meets union power: Netflix and Ted teams take a stand
Across the United States, DreamWorks Animation remote workers, along with Netflix Animation feature teams and the production crew of the show Ted, have boldly voted to join the Animation Guild and Editors Guild. This historic move signals a new era for animation, demanding fair pay, respect, and recognition for the artists who bring worlds to life.
With the National Labor Relations Board confirming the majority 'yes' vote, DreamWorks Animation will now officially acknowledge the remote unit under TAG and begin the high-stakes journey of negotiating its first contract.
The newly recognized DreamWorks Animation unit unites remote artists from across the United States who fuel LA-based projects, from features to television. These creators, story artists, animators, character effects artists, lighters, technical directors, modelers, and production coordinators bring imagination to life from anywhere.
Now their work, long covered on campus under TAG’s Master Agreement, gains formal recognition, ensuring that distance does not diminish their voice, value, or the impact they leave on every frame of animation magic, a legacy rooted in the rich history of DreamWorks Animation.
DreamWorks Animation started off as a small spark of ambition, a daring blend of talent and vision. Behind every frame lies a story of risk, reinvention, and the birth of a legendary studio.
